This month on “Why Google?” I am going to share a little bit about pay per click (PPC) advertising and why this is a great way to reach your target market.
The cool thing about PPC is that when someone searches for a service or product related to your business they are already your customer! They are searching for something they already need or want. An example would be if someone’s furnace goes out on a subzero. They go to google and search “emergency furnace repair near me”. That services is needed today and they are probably not going to do too much shopping around in that moment because they need to keep their house warm. Social media, for example, shows your ad to people who may need your service, but aren’t necessarily actively searching for it.
PPC also focuses on keywords that people are putting in, which means you can be really picky about who you want seeing your ads. Are your services high end? Then let Google know you don’t want to show up if someone includes the word “cheap”. That doesn’t mean every click is going to be exactly what you want, but it gives you a lot of control to get that ideal customer to your website.
Lastly, PPC means exactly what it sounds like. You pay for each click and nothing more. It costs nothing for your ad to show up if no one clicks on it. This is why it is important to have good keywords and ad copy! You want to show up to your ideal customer and not to people who aren’t looking for your service. When you do show up to your ideal customer you want your ad to be appealing to them so they visit your website and contact you.
